Valle di Viù left bank
Costa Palà-Cugn-Margone-Usseglio (TO)

From Margone country (TO), follow the initial stretch of the trail that leads to the refuge Cibrario.

We are located in the left bank of the Valley of Viù.

After about 700 m, in the thick of junipers, look at the small but picturesque rio Palà, on our left, following a trail that climbs the crestino among larches, Birch and beech, some rare until the old stone huts of Cugn (cuneo).

From the latter to about 150 metres North-North-West leads to a small plateau that rests in the outcrops of exposed minerals underlying the vertical Cliff near Palà Coast.

With the exception of the deposit, to twenty metres north of the plateau,

(B) and (C) are to be considered hazardous, common sense and safety must always take precedence over everything.

The minerals

Albite in white opaque crystals until translucent, anatase in octahedral crystals of metallic blue and black with tabular habit, bissolite, calcite crystals, chlorite, quartz crystals, titanite crystals of white, yellow, green and Brown.

The massive calcite is very common and often hides all minerals described above.

Thanks

My heartfelt thanks to Istituto Geografico Militare in Florence that has made available the cartography of the area treated.
