Right Ala Valley
Pian Airal-Madonna of Cresto-Ala di Stura (TO)

Mineralogical deposits of Pian Airal are easily accessible from the hamlet of Martassina of Ala di Stura (TO).

We are in the right wing Valley near the vallone di Monterosso and not very far from the rio Lusignetto.

The deposits are located downstream of the Madonnina of the Cresto erected on a small promontory called pian Airal.

The surrounding area is rich in vegetation, there are some beautiful beechwoods.

Once these Woods housing bears now extinct since 1700, currently you can observe specimens of roe deer and chamois, harder seeing small but cute squirrels.

Understory humidity favors the growth of several species of mushrooms including the well-known boleto edulis.

From the hamlet of Martassina we arrive at the borgata Tomà, exceeded the Stura, on our right a forest path runs alongside the Morosetto and in just 15 minutes you will arrive in a charming plateau which is called pian Planu, easily recognizable by two votive piloncini, excellent and clear spring water flows abundantly from the ground.

Still 10 minutes and our walk ends at pian Airal where the Madonna of Cresto dominates the Valley giving their backs who arrives in the small promontory and is directed across the hamlet Cresto of Ala di Stura in the opposite side of the Valley.

Pian Airal deposits were well-known to the villagers since the beginning of the last century, alternating different veins of the plan until rodingite almost to the bed of the river Stura where converge to lesser known deposits of Ponte del Villar.
