Susa Valley left bank
Rocca Sella-Caprie (TO)

Located at the edge of val di Susa and just a few kilometres from Turin, Rocca Sella is visited by hikers heading at the top of the mountain where there is a small chapel or headed to the Arponetto Hill and mount Sapei.

Mineralogical deposits of Rocca Sella, are easily accessible via a footpath that leads from the small church of cells, in the municipality of Caprie (TO) in the direction of the Summit.

This place is famous for the unique mineralogical samples of perowskite found in 70 years.

The minerals.

Chlorite, calcite , magnetite en masse in octahedral crystals, ilmenite, melanite in crystals of a very shiny black colour, perowskite into crystals of a beautiful amber-coloured semi-transparent.

Thanks

My heartfelt thanks to Istituto Geografico Militare in Florence that has made available the cartography of the area treated.
