Left Ala Valley
Uia di Mondrone-Balme (TO)

Easily accessible and visible from the village of Balme (TO).

The Mineralogical interest area is the grandiose natural landfill is now well established by the Uia to Mamojka and Towers of Ru opposite the village of Balme.

The Uia by Mamojka is really impressive, the upper part is home to the Lakes Ru Mercurin.

I turned in on and off this impressive mountain and I was fascinated.

I remember especially interesting and majestic landfills of Uia rovinatesi on the shores of Lake Mercurin.

Let's go back to our village and Balme initially described.

In spring is easy to observe Ibex and colonies near the first hairpin bends that lead us from Balme to Pian della Mussa we can observe a rare peony flowers now in danger of extinction.

Common in piles the presence of soapstone.

I will describe briefly the minerals observed and found myself in this locality in the sites indicated by gps and utm coordinates.

Massive Calcite , diopside variety mussite crystals from opaque to transparent to the nearest millimetre, Garnet in malformed crystals embedded on the rare rodingite lenses scattered in piles, idrossiclinohummite in magnetite crystals, crystals, olivine green crystals, sulfides, vesuvianite crystals deformed incorporated on the rare rodingitelenses.

Thanks

My heartfelt thanks to Istituto Geografico Militare in Florence that has made available the cartography of the area treated.
